Projector housings are designed for use with HID style kits, HID kits provide omni-directional light, while LED kits do not, and typically have a hard cutoff resulting in an undesirable light pattern when used in projectors. The nature of an LED headlight bulb gives the light itself uneven heat distribution, which can overheat in the close confines of a projector setup and cause early failure. Reflector housings offer the breathing room to negate this problem.
Note: Race Sport Lighting's Technical Team recommends that HID kits are used in place of LED kits in projector housings for a number of reasons.
