Mercedes-Benz is the oldest automobile company with rich history, in fact, it Mercedes-Benz is also one of the biggest automobile company with huge brand value and awareness. Mercedes-Benz was founded by Karl Benz in 1883 and sold its first automobile in 1886. Mercedes-Benz quality and brand value are so prominent that even head of states and kings even drove Mercedes-Benz as a matter of fact they still do, Mercedes-Benz was considered as the royalty of cars. Now a days Mercedes-Benz also make luxury cars, coaches, buses and trucks all of which is still maintain the same level of perfection of those early days. The first car that I will talk about is, in fact, the very first car made by Karl Benz 1879; the car didn't have any name or model at that time or later. The automobile had a gasoline one-cylinder two stroke engine. Karl Benz had so much success that he had enough funds to make his light weight car with gasoline powered engine which chassis and body formed a single unit. In 1855 Karl Benz made his dream car; major feature improvement included high-speed single-cylinder four-stroke engine installed horizontally at the rear, the tubular steel frame, the differential and three wire-spooked wheels with a horsepower of 0.75 hp. The second most iconic Mercedes-Benz model would be Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing which was launched in 1954 and first appeared in the New York Auto Show. Its engine was 3.0 liter and had horsepower of 215 hp and top speed of 160 miles per hour. Its most striking feature was its gull-wing doors. Only 1400 of these beauties were made and the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing model established Mercedes-Benz in the US market. The next car on my list is the Mercedes-Benz 540K which was launched in 1936. It was powered by a 5.4L supercharged inline eight, which made 180hp and rode on four-wheel independent suspension. The car was gorgeous in outlook and was styled by Hermann Ahrens. Only five hundreds of these elegant beauties were ever produced by Mercedes-Benz. The next car on my list inspired Mercedes-Benz to create their famous S-Class series. The name of the model is Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman. The Pullman was essentially a limousine made of the world leaders, royalties and celebrities, and boy they loved this car. Famous people such as Mao Tse-tung, Elvis Presley, Hugh Hefner, etc had this model it was the ultimate chick magnet in those old ways. The Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman had a long wheelbase and had a fifth and sixth seat installed behind the front row facing rearward. The car was so big and heavy that Mercedes had to build an all-new 6.3-liter V8 engine to power the beast. But the most notable feature of the car had to be the hydraulic system that controlled the seats, doors, windows and sunroof. It was powered by the awesome 6.3L V8 of its day, and it included features like a liquor cabinet of Czech crystal; it was the ultimate luxury car. The last iconic Mercedes-Benz car on my list is the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren which was launched in 2003. The model was jointly developed by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive. Inspired by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coup of 1955, the SLR was one of the most capable supercars made by German automaker. The SLR McLaren engine made 617 horsepower from a 5.5-liter supercharged V-8 and 580 lb-ft of torque. It did 60 miles per hour in just over 3.0 seconds; and had a top speed of 211 miles per hour. At $450,000, it is also one of the ten most expensive cars in the world during its lifetime.
